1. Gather Inspiration:

Before starting, gather inspiration from Taylor Swift’s previous album covers, as well as other romantic or vintage-themed designs. This will help you establish the mood and style you want to achieve.

2. Setting up the Canvas

  • Create a new document in Photoshop with dimensions around 3000×3000 pixels, ensuring it’s set to CMYK color mode for print or RGB for digital distribution.
  • Establish guides or grids to help with layout and alignment.

3. Background Creation

For this cover, I’ve used an image of a “cloud background” which can be downloaded from unsplash.com

Moving forward, I introduced a Gradient element to emulate the “light leak” effect observed on the album cover. This element plays a crucial role in defining the cover’s aesthetic.

Here’s how you can achieve this effect in Photoshop:

  1. Navigate to the “Adjustments” menu and select “Gradient.” This action will generate the Gradient on a separate layer, providing you with the flexibility to modify the gradient settings at any time in the future. This method ensures non-destructive editing, allowing for seamless adjustments to the gradient appearance.

Your Image should now looks something like this

 4. Adding the Model

Let’s proceed with incorporating our subject or model into the composition. To begin, I visited unsplash.com and selected an appropriate image featuring a female model. Next, I separated the model from its original background using the following steps:

  1. Press the W key on your keyboard to activate the Magic Wand Selection Tool.
  2. Navigate to the “Select Subject” option and allow the AI to automatically generate a selection around the subject.
  3. Once the selection is obtained, delete the background layer to isolate the image of the model. This ensures that only the model remains visible within the composition.

In many instances, you’ll find the need to harmonize the color tones of an image with its background. In our case, since our light leak has a yellow hue, we’ll utilize the Color Balance adjustment layer to infuse some yellow tones into the model’s image.

To achieve this, we can employ a non-destructive method by accessing the Color Balance adjustment layer. Start by ensuring the model’s image layer is selected in the Layers panel.

Press CTRL+B to bring up the Color Balance dialog box. Adjust the sliders accordingly: shift the Yellow slider to the left to increase yellow tones, and simultaneously shift the Cyan slider to the left as well to balance out the colors. It’s crucial to exercise restraint here; aim for subtle yet impactful color corrections. This will seamlessly blend the model into the background while maintaining visual harmony.

5. Add the Text

This cover just has the title text. For that we will use the font called “Love” by FG Studios. Download it and add it to the image. Resize the font to your preference.
The cover should now look something like this.
